Brett Avia Wentz

February 11, 1958 — January 20, 2021

Brett Avia Wentz, 62, of Casper, WY passed away, Tuesday, January 20, 2021 following a hard fought battle with cancer.

He was born February 11, 1958 in Norton, KS the son of Fredrick Ludwig and Violet May (Backus) Wentz. He was raised on a farm, the youngest of five brothers and four sisters. Brett graduated from Jennings High School, Jennings, KS in 1976. While in High School he was active in FFA.

Shortly after graduating he moved to McCook, Nebraska where he met his future wife. He and Corey Wagner married May 18, 1980. He is survived by his wife, three children, Chelsea (Justin) Dailey, Isaac (Amanda) Wentz and Kai (Hope) Wentz; four grandchildren, Grace, Chloe, Wyatt and Mason Dailey. He is also survived by four brothers, Walter, Carl, LaRene and Dwight Wentz, three sisters, Florence Marsh, Sylvia Wilroy and Rosalie Kraft; as well as many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Eugene Wentz and his sister Karolyn Kingham.

Mr. Wentz received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Wyoming in 2008. He would argue anything and was always up for a good debate. He appreciated those who could calmly discuss hot button issues, including politics, current news and religion.

Brett's grandchildren are the love of his life. He enjoyed spending every possible moment with them. He also had a love for antique farm tractors. He was a true believer in the adage that, "One man's trash is another man's treasure". He enjoyed finding treasures and restoring them to near perfect. He was well known for his obsession with detail during this process. He loved tinkering on the farm and caring for his animals, including his pet cat Zero.

Cremation is planned. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in his name to the Casper Humane Society, 849 East E. Street, Casper, WY 82601.
