Bobbie R. Roberts
Casper, Wyoming
December 18, 1928 - May 15, 2016
In loving memory of Bobbie Roberts, 87, who passed away May 15, 2016. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Bobbie was born in St. Clair, Georgia on December 18, 1928 to the late Robert Ponder and Euna Mae Gay. She was the eldest daughter of five siblings and as such was known as "sista" ("Sister"). Bobbie was Valedictorian of her high school graduation class. Upon graduation at the age of 16, she attended secretarial school in Atlanta. It was there that she eventually met Keith Roberts, her future husband.
Their life together was full of adventure and travel. Keith and Bobbie initially resided in Nebraska, and made stops in South Dakota, Powell, Wyoming, and a two year stretch in the Philippines before settling in Casper, Wyoming in 1959. Keith and Bobbie resided in the same home for the remainder of their lives, raising three children; Michael Roberts (Cathy), Nancy Brauchie (Larry), and Shelly Applegate (Dean).
In addition to raising her family and being a home maker, Bobbie worked as an administrative assistant for the Natrona County School District for fifteen years. Bobbie was an integral member of the clerical staff that among many accomplishments drafted, proposed and enacted a collective bargaining agreement. She had a lively, independent spirit and active social life. She was a competitive bridge player and avid bird watcher. She also enjoyed spending time with family at home or their cabin in the Big Horn Mountains, and with friends golfing, at book club, or Red Hat meetings.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Meals on Wheels. Services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 10AM followed by a reception at the Petroleum Club.
