Bobbie Lee Traylor, 93, passed away June 14, 2012 at Life Care Center with his loving wife at his side.
He was born March 26, 1919 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas to Fred and Evie (Kirby) Traylor. He had one brother, L.C. Traylor of San Antonio, TX and one sister, Pauline Gilpin of Mt. Pleasant, TX. He attended Mt. Pleasant High School, played on the football team and graduated in 1940. After high school he attended college in Arlington, Texas for a year and a half then joined the Navy in 1942 serving on the USS Procyon. He was honorably discharged in 1945.
After the war he returned to Mount Pleasant and went to work for the Talco Asphalt and Refinery Co. He then moved to West Texas and began working for oilfield rental companies. He moved to Casper in 1958 and continued to work in the oilfield. In Casper he worked for several oilfield rental companies and retired as a sales representative at the age of 69. He then went to work managing a carwash. However, when the job became 7 days a week and 14 - 15 hours a day he decided it was more hours than he wanted to work. He then went to work picking up and delivering cars for several car agencies and a car rental company. He fully retired at the age of 85.
After moving to Casper he was introduced to Janice Steinman by her Mother. They were married in 1959 and recently celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary.
He enjoyed bowling, dancing and could be talked into tennis and golf. He never wanted to do outdoor sports because he said, "I have to work outside so why play outside." He loved to sit outside in the summer sun with his beloved dog Jake. To Bobbie every stranger was a friend he just hadn't met. He enjoyed talking with people and especially discussing football with one of his brother-in-Iaws.
In September of 2010 he went on the Honor Flight to Washington DC to see the World War II Memorial. He thoroughly enjoyed the trip and often talked about it.
He was a 50 year and Lifetime member of Temple Lodge #70 AF&AM in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Scottish Rite, Apollo Commandery #8, Royal Arch Masons Capitol Chapter #8, Cryptic Masons of Casper #1, Korein Temple, Casper Shrine Club, T Patrol and Elks Lodge #1693 in Riverton, WY.
He is survived by his wife Janice, dog Jake and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly and who also loved him. He will be greatly missed.
Donations in his honor may be made to the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Texas, Shrine Hospitals for Children or a charity of the donor's choice.
A Memorial Service in celebration of his life will be held August 9, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Marks Episcopal Church.
