POWDER RIVER -- At her request, a service for Beverly C. Hazen, 81, will be held on the Santa Monica Pier in California.

She died May 8, 2007, at Shepherd of the Valley Care Center.

She was born Nov. 27, 1925, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of James Mark Cunningham and Florence Johnson.

She was raised in California.

In her occupation as a waitress for 45 years, both at the Santa Monica Pier and at Hell's Half Acre in Powder River, she was a beacon of light and friendship to her customers, treating them as though they were family.

Her positive attitude and compassion for others was an inspiration.

She'll be missed by family, friends and the countless others whose lives she touched.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Kingston, Mission Viejo, Calif., and Terrill Baker, Powder River; three brothers and one sister; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, one granddaughter, one brother and three sisters.
