Betty Louise Padgett, 78, of Casper, passed away Thursday April 4, 2019.
She was born to the late Earl and Viola Fox on February 25, 1941 in Hutchinson, Ks. Betty graduated from Alden High School in Alden, Ks. She then moved to Casper, Wy. and met and married Lester Obert, Jr., together they had 3 daughters; Faith Erin, Alicia and Angela. They were later divorced.
Betty received her cosmetology license and worked as a hairdresser for many years in Casper.
Betty later moved to Dodge City, Ks. where she met and married Lyman "Dude" Padgett. She helped Dude with all aspects of their farming operation and it was there that she developed her gift for gardening. After Dude's passing Betty lived a short time in Powder River, Wy and later relocated to Hyannis, Ne. to live near her daughter and son-in-law, John and Angela Young. Due to poor health Betty relocated to Casper in 2017 where she lived at Garden Square Assisted Living.
Betty had a passion for creating beauty all around her. She kept a very neat and welcoming home and always had beautiful plants and flower beds. She loved handwork of all sorts. She knitted and crocheted many baby blankets and afghans for her grandchildren. She was a talented seamstress and did beautiful and intricate embroidery work. She loved animals and had many beloved dogs throughout the years. She loved birdwatching and could identify all the birds that came into her yard. Betty was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Betty is survived by three children: Faith Erin Robinett and Alicia Hickson, of Casper; Angela (John) Young of Paducah, Tx. She is survived by eight grandchildren: Jessica (Josh) Simkin, Jolene Robinett, Celeste (Joe) Bond, Mark (Kamille) Johnston, Candice (Chris) Howe, Kelsey (Daniel) Mason, Brianna (Cody) Jensen, Frances (Jake) Jarman. Betty is survived by a sister Wilma (Wendell) Powell of Lyons, Ks. She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Lyman Padgett, parents Earl and Viola Fox, brothers Bill, Danny and Galen Fox and great-grandson, Mark Dee Howe.
Services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home Monday April 8th at 10:00 am followed by burial at Highland Cemetery.
