Betty Lee DePaemelere passed from this earth to be with her Lord and Savior on February 2, 2011. She was born to John and Dorothy Minchow on February 10, 1926 in Casper, Wyoming.
Betty was married to Albert Paul "Bud" DePaemelere on September 10, 1946 in Casper, Wyoming. Two children blessed this union, Janice Lee Cowell and Richard Paul DePaemelere. The family's summer residence was on Casper Mountain in a cabin they built together beginning in 1947. The cabin continues to be a memorable place for family gatherings which Betty always encouraged.
Betty was employed by the Natrona County School District as a school secretary at Pineview Elementary School and as a playground aide. She also worked in similar positions at Grant Elementary School. Someone remarked once that Betty was the only person they had seen who could knit and tend to playground activities at the same time.
Betty was a very active bowler. She bowled several times a week in league play. She won many city and state awards while bowling with her daughter, Janice. She served on the Casper Women's Bowling Association as a board member.
Following retirement she became interested in quilting; Betty was an avid quilter. She delighted in presenting family members with quilted placemats and table runners that were coordinated with the seasons. She was an active member of the Piece by Piece Quilt Club. To this day, there are several finished quilts waiting to find good homes. Betty was also a devout member and volunteer at Grace Lutheran Church for over 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister, and her loving husband.
She is survived by two children, Janice Lee Cowell (Tom) and Richard Paul DePaemelere (Susan) both of Casper; five grand children; Erik DePaemelere, Michele (DePaemelere) Haagenson, Jennifer (Cowell) DePaolo, Amy (Cowell) Wright, and Myron Cowell; and eight great grand children.
Services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 7, 2011. Memorials to Grace Lutheran Church would be appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Newcomer Funeral Home.
