Betty "Jean" Collins, 90, of Casper, passed away October 2, 2019, surrounded by her family.
Jean was born February 10, 1929, the only child of Walter and Kate Walker. She grew up in Yoder, WY, graduating from Yoder High School. She married Berl Collins in 1947. They had six children. They moved to Casper in 1956 and later divorced.
Jean worked as a clerk and a bookkeeper for various companies in Casper and was a senior companion when she was in her late seventies for which she received an award as Senior Companion of the year.
Jean was a mother of six but was "Mom" to many others as well. She raised her six children with love and always made room in her heart and her home throughout the years for many other children-- those who needed love, a hot meal, or just an ear to listen to them. No soul was ever turned away when in need.
Jean was an active member of Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her children: Ron (Barb Guyett) of Littleton, CO; Cathy (Jim) Sears of Meridian, ID; Mike (Elaine); Robert "Ernie" (Doris); and Bobbi, all of Casper, WY. She is also survived by her grandchildren: David Kiniston, Jason Collins, Josh Sears, Jennifer Ryan, Aaron Collins, and Katie Collins; twelve great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Kate Walker and her son, Keith "Rusty" Collins.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Casper Senior Services, Hospice, or the charity of your choice.
Services will be held at Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church on Saturday, October 5, at 2pm.
