Bette Jean Gottfried

Bette Jean Gottfried, age 91, of Casper, Wyoming passed away April 9, 2020 at Central Wyoming Hospice. Bette was born February 19, 1929 in Bartlett, Nebraska to Edwin and Geneva (Taylor) Unangst. She graduated from Wheeler County High School in Bartlett, Nebraska in 1946. She married Paul K. Gottfried on aUGUST 8, 1949 AT Esterbrook Church in Douglas, Wyoming. She was employed as a Telephone Operator for Mountain Bell Telephone Company for 3 years. She was a homemaker for the majority of her life caring for her family and gardening. Bette was a member of First United Methodist Church in Casper. She belonged to Casper Rockhound Club for many years and went on many field trips. She worked elections at Wardwell for many years. She volunteered at blood draws for the Red Cross and at the Central Wyoming Rescue Mission. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and putting together jigsaw puzzles. She had numerous pets over the years, but enjoyed her dachshunds. In retirement, she enjoyed traveling numerous places in the US, Australia, and Hawaii.

In addition to her parents, Bette was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 34 years, Paul K. Gottfried, sisters, Mildred Scheel, Marian Krause, Hettie Bohlmann, Lola Freeman, brother, William Unangst, grandson, Chad Miller, great-granddaughter, Braylee Fox, and great-grandson, Moe Ryan Kennedy. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Rob Sanders) Kennedy, daughter, Paula (Lee) LaPointe, daughter, Linda (Glenn) Davis, daughter, Margo (Jim Kirkpatrick) Twiggs, son, Joseph (Laurie) Gottfried, sister, Maxine Wingert, sister, Georgia Sternberg, brother, Robert (Linda) Unangst, 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

No services will be held at this time.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Red Cross or Central Wyoming Rescue Mission in Bette's memory.
