Barbara LaVonn (Metz) Schilling
Born April 7, 1921 in Morrill Nebraska to Joe and Iva Metz.
She was married Nov 3, 1938 to Fred Schilling in Casper, WY; she remained married to Fred for 64 years until she lost the love of her life in 2003 when Fred passed away.
Barbara moved to Wyoming at an early age and received her schooling at several grade schools, as Joe's (her fathers) work required many moves. She completed High School in Douglas and Glenrock where she was a cheerleader.
After her children were in school in Casper, she went to work for several businesses in the Casper area including the Ben Franklin where she held the following positions as a Clerk, Trainer and Purchasing Agent. In 1952 she was employed by Mountain States Power, which later became Pacific Power and exists now as PacifiCorp filling many positions until her retirement in 1974.
Barbara helped start the Pacific Power and Light Retirees Organization which is still going strong where she served on the Board of Directors until her retirement in 1996.
She was a member of Winter Memorial Presbyterian Church and where she was baptized
into the church in 1959.
She was very active in the BPO Does serving on many committees and as an officer including, President of the local Drove #38, Deputy Supreme Installing President, Deputy Supreme Installing Conductor. The subsequent relationships that developed and
thrived with her sister Does meant a great deal to her.
Barbara is survived by her children, Sylvia S. Garber and her husband John of Casper, Buck J Schilling of Casper and Aloha L. Laurenz and her husband Hank of Coxs Creek, KY, several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Fred in 2003, Mother, Father, Brother (Donn), Daughter (Nancy), and Son in Law (Gene).
The joys of her life were her children, wonderful neighbors and the many friends she leaves behind "Her motto was "Each Day is a Gift Treasure It".
