Audrey Kerr

Casper - It is with deep sadness that the Kerr family announces the passing of our dearly loved mother, Audrey Kerr, age 91. She was known as "Grinny" by her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She was surrounded by family members at her daughters' home when the Lord called her to her eternal home on November 21, 2018.

Audrey was born in her maternal grandmother's house to James and Hattie (nee: Trojanowska) Danielewicz in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 1, 1927. She was a first generation of Polish immigrants in her family to be born in the United States. She was raised on the south side of Milwaukee in the Polish neighborhood of Lincoln Village where she graduated from Saint Mary's Catholic Girls Academy. After High School, she attended the Burrows Office Machines Academy which prepared her for Secretarial positions.

While growing up on the south side of Milwaukee, she attended The Basilica of St. Josaphat with her family and many relatives. It was in this church where she developed a strong love for the Lord. It was also in this Basilica where on April 15, 1950, she married Harold L. Kerr from Wichita, Kansas. After the wedding, Harold and Audrey moved to Grand Junction, CO and then in 1951, to Casper, WY.

In Casper, Audrey was a stay-at-home Mom. She and Harold raised seven children. After her children were grown, she started her work career again. She was first self-employed, cleaning houses. She then worked for Donell's Candy, Hallmark Cards, and finally as the Secretary for the Casper Little League Baseball.

In Casper, Harold and Audrey attended St. Anthony and St. Patrick Catholic churches. In later years, after the death of her husband, she started attending Highland Park Community Church with her children, where she was baptized before the congregation. Her love for the Lord continued to grow and the study of God's Word and her prayer life deepened. Many people were the recipients of her prayers.

Raising an athletic family, Audrey developed a love for sports. She amazed her family as she never learned to drive but could be seen attending many of her children's sporting events and other activities. She walked to get there. Until the day she passed away, she loved watching baseball, football, basketball and tennis on TV. She was known to place $1.00 bets with her son-in-law, Duane.

Another great joy in her life was baking. Her kitchen counters were always filled with many varieties of freshly baked cookies, cakes and pies. If anyone stopped by, they generally left with a cookie or two in hand. Later in life Audrey would bake cookies and take them out to a Nursing Home and hand them out to the residents.

She also loved sending out cards and letters of encouragement to family and friends, especially church members. Her notes always included a joke or two. The outside of the envelopes were always decorated with stickers of many sorts along with more jokes. She always said she hoped to brighten a postman's day when he or she delivered the mail.

Audrey was preceded in death by her husband Harold, her parents, her brother Richard Daniels, and an infant son.

She is survived by her 7 children: Greg (Vicky) of Scottsbluff, NE, Chad (Debbie) of Salt Lake City, UT, and Sandy (Duane) Burd, Jim (Ruth), Tom (Renea), Pam (Rick) Speakman, and Kelly (Pam) all of Casper. She is also survived by 23 Grandchildren and 23 Great-Grandchildren.

Audrey loved everyone she met. She always tried to brighten someone's day. If a person visited her they always received a farewell wish as they left, "God go with you." The most important thing Mom would want everyone to remember her by was, she loved the Lord Jesus.

There will be a viewing at the Newcomer Casper Chapel, Thursday, December 6th at 6-8 pm. A memorial service will be held at Highland Park Community Church on Saturday, December 8th at 11am. Reception to follow.
