Audrey May Hillhouse

Audrey May Tibbits Johnstone Hillhouse, age 91, passed away October 2, 2018 at Central Wyoming Hospice.

Mrs. Hillhouse was born September 26, 1927 to Ansel and Effie (Lewis) Tibbets in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She was active in 4-H, Girl Reserves, Job's Daughters, NuPhiMu, band, orchestra, chorus, Tomahawk Pep Club, Baptist Church Choir, and many small vocal groups.

Her career began with USDI Bureau of Reclamation in 1945 in Cheyenne, then to the Boysen Dam Project in Thermopolis, Wyoming where she met and married William H. Johnstone. She was employed by Charles M. Smith Construction, Hamilton Pipeline, Empire State Oil Company, then with her husband in Johnstone's Custom Ditching and Dirt Work and Johnstone's Live Fish Bait.

One son, Eric Dale Johnstone was born in 1953. After a divorce and a house fire, she married Charles N. "Chick" Hillhouse in 1972 and lived with him in Worland and Douglas, Wyoming and Phoenix, Arizona. After her husband's death in 1991 she returned to Wyoming and made her home in Casper.

Mrs. Hillhouse returned to government work with the USDA Forest Service, retiring in Phoenix from the National Minerals Training Office.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and her son Eric; she is survived by her half-sister Evelyn Perry of Lusk, Wyoming and her children.
