CASPER -- Memorial services for long-time Casper resident and businessman Arthur Robert "Bob" Macy Jr., 76, will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at Highland Park Community Church with son-in-law Mark Bower leading the service. A reception will take place immediately following at the Casper Petroleum Club.
Private inurnment will be held at a later date.
He died July 18, 2008, at Wyoming Medical Center of complications from a stroke suffered 13 years ago.
He was born Sept. 26, 1931, in Kimball, Neb., the son of Arthur Robert and Marguerite (Moyer) Macy.
He was raised in Cheyenne and first moved to Casper to attend Casper Junior College, where he completed two years of schooling before attending Denver University, earning a bachelor's degree in accounting.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served from 1954-58, including time in Munich, Germany, attaining the rank of sergeant.
He married Mary Lou Knittle in Casper and they had four children. She preceded him in death on March 2, 1990.
On July 23, 1994, he married Mary Jane White in Casper.
Upon his return to Casper after the service, he rose through the ranks at the firm of Chapin & McNamara, CPA's. He purchased the firm when the owners retired and it ultimately became Macy & Associates, where he remained until his retirement in 2005.
He was very active in the community, lending his sound wisdom to groups ranging from First National Bank, where he served as president of the board, to the Wyoming Medical Center Foundation, where he was a founding board member.
He was a long-time member of the Casper Country Club and served on its board, as well as on the boards of the Troopers Foundation and the Casper College Foundation.
He loved playing golf and accounting.
Survivors include his wife of Casper, four children, Terry Biggs and her husband of Casper, Dr. Larry Macy and his wife of Morrisville, Pa., Tracy Schwartzkopf and her husband of Casper and Suzi Bower and her husband of Casper; five stepchildren, Owen A. Frank III and his significant other of Glenrock, Fred Frank and his wife of Ammon, Idaho, Mary Pat Frank and her significant other of Casper, Susan Frank and her husband of Casper and Dorothy Howard and her husband of Glenwood Springs, Colo.; eight grandchildren and six step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and 11 step-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Lloyd Macy of Denver and Ed Macy of Oregon City, Ore.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife and one grandson.
