CASPER- Armanda B. Madruga, 87, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2011 at the Central Wyoming Hospice. Armanda was born in Sao Joao, Pico, Azores, Portugal, the daughter of Maria B. Bettencourt and Manuel H. Bettencourt. On April 12, 1945, she married Joao "John" M. Madruga in Sao Joao, Pico, Azores, Portugal.The couple moved from Portugal to Casper in 1973.
She was a homemaker and loved cooking, gardening, sewing, and scrap booking. She loved her family, and was a devout Christian who prayed often for others. When she was young she sang in the local theater. She was a member of St Patrick's Catholic Church.
Survivors include; son, Joao "John" A Madruga, and wife of Casper; four daughters, Gloria Sorenson, and her husband of Cody, WY; Armanda Stephens, and her husband of Tipp City, OH; Maria "Tina" Phillips, and her husband of Casper, WY; and Maria "Lucy" Lewallen, and her fiancé of Casper, WY; nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Adelina Silva and family of Canada.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters and two sons, Jose Manuel Bettencourt Madruga and Manuel Francisco Bettencourt Madruga.
FUNERAL SERVICES: Funeral Services for Casper resident, Armanda B. Madruga, 87, will be conducted at 10:30 AM, Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 710 East 2nd St, Casper, WY by Rev. August Koeune of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday, October 26, 2011 with a rosary service at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
