Arline Clausen

April 21, 1928 — September 8, 2013

A memorial service for Arline May Clausen, 85, will be held on Monday, September 16, 2013, at 2 pm at Our Saviuor's Lutheran Church, with Pastor Bob McNamara officiating.

Arline (Grandma Reenie) went to her eternal and everlasting home on September 8, 2013 at the Wyoming Medical Center surrounded by her family.

She was born on April 21, 1928 in Seward, Nebraska to Otto and Mollie (Slama) Vondra. Her home was with her parents and grandparents, Karel and Frances Slama, on their Nebraska farm, until 1934 when her family moved to a ranch located 20 miles south of Lusk, Wyoming. Arline was raised in the Lusk/Torrington area, attended Prairie Center and graduated from Natrona County High School in Casper, Wyoming.

She married Earl Sides in 1948 and they had two children, Crystal Carol and Jay Randolph Sides. They divorced in 1953. Arline spent numerous years in Denver, Colorado as a waitress and bartender. In 1976 she moved back to Casper, Wyoming to be closer to her family. In 1977, she found and married her soul mate, Thomas Clausen, and enjoyed many years together until his death in 2006. She was employed by the State of Wyoming Employment Security Commission and worked in the unemployment check division until her retirement in July 2002. After retirement, Arline kept busy by volunteering as a "Pink Lady" at the Wyoming Medical Center.

She was so proud of her family and adored her grandsons and great-grandchildren. She attended every game and/or activity in which they participated and was there in heart and spirit when she couldn't be there physically. She worshiped regularly with family at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and received immeasurable contentment with a weekly bible study with her sister, Betty Durnell. She was always up for a good card game, going to Alcova Lake and traveling to Riverton or Deadwood with her husband, sisters and other family members.

Arline is survived by her daughter, Crystal Fleming; her son, Randy Sides (Heide); her grandsons, Shane Sides (Abigail), Travis Sides (Cynthia), and Patrick Sides (Lynsey); and her great-grandchildren, Peder Hilde (Washington), Brooke, Jake, Paige, Noah, Tucker, Wesley, Owen, and Chance Sides all in the Casper area. She is also survived by two sisters, Betty Durnell and Shirley Downs and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arline was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Clausen; her parents, Otto and Mollie Vondra; and her brother, Donald Vondra.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request any expressions of sympathy in Arline's honor and memory be designated to the elevator fund at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 318 E. 6th Street, Casper, Wyoming.
