Anthony Lee Muckley

September 26, 1964 — August 13, 2020

Tony was born in Rock Springs, WY on September 26, 1964. He was a beloved son to a devoted mother, whom he remained close with and protective of throughout his life. He was the playful and protective brother. Tony's closest and lifelong best friends became family. He was a cherished nephew, cousin, and uncle to so many in his family. He was always at every family gathering with a warm hug, a contagious smile, and a heartfelt laugh. Tony was a devoted and loving husband to his wife. He was a true friend to those he loved. Throughout his life, he bonded with many friends, and his presence left a lasting mark on everyone he touched. He was married three times in his life, resulting in children of his own and step-children he loved like his own. He was a playful grandfather to many adoring grandchildren.

Tony was a giant in stature, personality, character, and sense of humor. His presence and energy could fill a room and set the tone for those around him. Tony was very skilled in his field, having been an ironworker for 30 years. He overcame much to excel in his profession and earned the respect of his peers, not only for the mastery of his craft, but for taking a leadership role to negotiate labor terms on their behalf. Through his career and role with the union, he built things no one had yet built and helped to secure the health and livelihoods of the men and women who placed their trust in his leadership. Tony lived as a truly free man, beholden to no one. He believed in working hard, playing harder, speaking up for those without a voice, and walking towards excellence no matter how long or hard the path. Tony was a patriot who never failed to love his country, not out of nationalism or partisanship, but because of that idea he held so dear: that a man should be free and unhindered by any political obstacle on the path to self-improvement and the raising of one self through one's efforts.

Tony was a free spirit in his personal life. He loved the outdoors. He was a skilled and talented hunter, enjoying his time away in the Bighorn Mountains. Tony was at peace in the mountains, but also loved the warmth of summer at the lake. He loved to travel often and see new places with his family. Tony felt alive with loud music. He loved rock and country. He played hard and fast in his boats, ATVs, cars, trucks, and especially on his motorcycles. Tony's love for life was contagious to be around. He always magnified the fun and joy in nearly every situation. Tony was capable of many complexities. He was an incredibly kind, gentle, and understanding man; but he was unyielding in his fight for what he believed was right and to protect that which he cared for. His spirit was special, completely unique, and he saw the world through a refreshing lens.

Tony passed August 13, 2020. He passed unexpectedly and too soon for all that adored him. He passed the way he lived: free, protecting the woman he loved, touching the horizon.

Tony was preceded in death by his father, Gary Muckley and brother, Louis Muckley.
