Anne Knopik a wonderful wife and trophy bride to Dennis J. Knopik for 59 ½ YEARS, passed away peacefully Sunday morning June 14th at her Yuma home, after a complicating illness since a broken ankle in November 2014. She was surrounded by Dennis and Daughter Lynn at her side holding her hands, Son Kevin on speaker phone, Arizona Best Hospice and Synergy Home Care. Irish musical recordings playing loudly in the background, which Anne and Dennis purchased on their trips to Ireland.
Anne (Buckley) Knopik was born in Lincoln, NE, graduated St. Elizabeth's School of Nursing as RN. She was a nurse in ER at St. Elizabeth Hospital where she met her husband Dennis who was attending University of Nebraska and was an ambulance driver and attendant. They married at St. Patrick's Catholic Church Dec 26, 1955 in Havlock, NE. She was a dedicated nurse almost 50 years in Lincoln, NE; New London, CT; Minneapolis, MN; Hastings, NE; Casper, WY. She helped Dennis operate Knopik Memorial Chapel in Casper, WY from 1963 to 1994. She then was Manager of Natrona Memorial Gardens which she and Dennis owned. She retired in 1996.
Anne and Dennis enjoyed traveling to numerous places in US, Hawaii, Canada, Alaska, Ireland, England, Australia, New Zealand, European countries including Russia, Mediterranean countries, and through the panama canal. Anne enjoyed the wonderful Wyoming out of doors, including many camping trips under the stars with close friends, shooting big game animals such as white tail, mule deer and a Moose.
After retiring, they wintered in Rockport, TX and then spent remaining years in Yuma, AZ. In Casper she was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church; Alter/Rosary Society of St. Anthony's Catholic Church; volunteered many hours at St. Vincent DePaul Thrift Shop; World Wind RV group which she enjoyed camping with all over the state of Wyoming; Casper Doll Club, Anne collected dolls from around the world; Casper Antique and Collectors Club, she enjoyed doing Antique Shows and Flea Markets. In Yuma she was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
Survived by Husband Dennis Knopik of Papillion, NE; Son Kevin (Vera) Knopik of Casper, WY; Daughter Lynn Knopik (Roger) Bochmann of Papillion, NE; Grandson Gregory Knopik a Navy helicopter pilot currently in Egypt; Granddaughter Mary Knopik of Casper; Step Granddaughter Jackie (Nichols) Simpson of Leander, TX; Two Great Grandchildren.
Preceded in death by Parents Bernard Buckley and Frances (Maher) Buckley; Brother Richard Buckley; Daughter Kelly Knopik.
Memorial services will be held in Casper, WY on July 27, 2015 at 10 am at Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery after which the cremains will be put in the Memorial Wall. Casual attire suggested. Anne requested no flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to:
