Anita V. Stevens

April 11, 1940 — May 23, 2021

Anita Verene Stevens peacefully gained her heavenly wings on May 23, 2021.

Anita was born on April 11, 1940 in San Antonio, Texas to Mildred and Archie Lee.

She spent her early childhood in Texas. She would tell us how hot the summers were there. At 14 years old, she relocated to Casper, Wyoming with her father, Archie, as he found gainful employment here. Later, she met Robert E. Steelman, and they married in 1954. Anita gave birth to four children: Robert Steelman, Jr., Deborah Steelman-Taylor, Paul Steelman, and Tina Steelman.

While employed as an LPN and RN by Wyoming Medical Center for over 30 years, she guided her children. Her final position was as a Nurse Auditor before retiring.

She loved her poodles, growing beautiful roses, Pepsi, sewing, boating, and traveling. Her destination included trips to England, Egypt, and Europe. She also traveled extensively throughout the United States.

Anita was preceded in death by her mother and father, Mildred and Archie Lee; and two brothers, Eugene Lee and Ray Lee.

She is survived by one brother, Richard Lee; four children: Robert E. Steelman, Jr. (Tamara), Deborah Steelman-Taylor, Paul E. Steelman (Jodi), and Tina L. Steelman; eight grandchildren: Samuel Steelman, Robert Steelman, Miranda Taylor, Dustin Cook, Anthony Steelman, Jessie, Charlie, and Trapper. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren: Aiden, Kelton Steelman, Devonte Belving, and Willow Steelman.

A "Celebration of Life" potluck picnic will be held later, on a date to be determined. Deborah Steelman-Taylor will be the contact person for the picnic. For more information on the future gathering, please contact Deborah at deborahtaylor210@gmail.com.
