Allen David Cheesbrough
Allen Cheesbrough, 91, passed away on April 8, 2008, in Fort Collins, CO. Memorial services will be Saturday, April 12 at 3:00 pm. at Christ United Methodist Church, 1868 S. Poplar St., Casper, WY.
Allen was born August 8, 1916 in the Church sanctuary in Elk Mountain, WY to Joseph Cheesbrough and Anna Mae Cheesbrough. At the age of one and one-half years, the family moved to a ranch east of Medicine Bow, WY.
Allen attended school in Medicine Bow and graduated with honors from high school in May, 1933. In the fall of 1933 he entered the University of Wyoming where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and Business Administration and a minor in Economics. He was the first graduate of Medicine Bow High School to graduate with a four year degree from the University of Wyoming.
On November 1, 1937 Allen was employed by the United States Department of Agriculture in Laramie, WY. He worked for U.S.D.A. for 40 years, the first 9 years in Laramie and then moved to Casper, WY in June of 1946. He continued to work there until he retired in 1977.
While working in Casper, Allen met his wife Irma and they were married August 8, 1949 in the United Methodist Church in Laramie, WY. Allen enjoyed his work throughout the 40 years he worked for the U.S.D.A. In 1974 he was chosen as the Outstanding Male Federal Civil Servant in the Casper area. In 1975 the United States Department of Agriculture honored Allen for excellence and outstanding individual achievement in administering and coordinating ASCS farm programs in Wyoming.
Allen was a charter member of Christ United Methodist Church in Casper and was very active in the church. He enjoyed his family life and his two sons Gregory and Mark. As time permitted he enjoyed fishing, bowling, gardening, and landscaping his home. He and Irma enjoyed travelling in their RV to spend winters in Arizona with friends. He and Irma also enjoyed artifact hunting with friends and travelled many miles in the hills of Wyoming.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Anna Mae Cheesbrough, his brothers Edward, Raymond, Lawrence, and Warren, his son Gregory, and his wife Irma.
