Alex Cuthill Jr., 87, a Casper resident of 87 years, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2013 at Central Wyoming Hospice.
He was born June 19, 1926 in Casper, Wyoming, the son of Alex and Harriet (Wilson) Cuthill. His parents came from Scotland and homesteaded the ranch which is still in the family. He was the youngest of three boys and was raised on the ranch six miles east of Casper.
He attended his schooling, first at Willard School in Casper then he graduated Natrona County High School in 1944. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1944 and was transferred to the USNCB and served time in the Philippine's. After the war he was sent to Japan an served there until he was Honorably discharged in 1946.
He returned to Casper and worked in several places until he went to work at Texaco Refinery in Casper, Where he retired as machine shop foreman in 1981.
He married Agnes P. Mclain in 1977 at Evansville Christian Church and became an immediate father of two daughters.
In 1979 he took his family back to his parents Father Country of
Scotland and visited his relatives in Scotland and England then, took an extended tour of Europe.
After his retirement he and his wife bought a motorhome and spent several years touring around the United States and Southern Canada.
In 1997 they bought a retirement home in Yuma, AZ and for the next nine years divided their time between Casper and Arizona.
In his younger year his hobbies were square dancing and hunting and fishing. Later traveling and working on his ranch, especially cranking up the older grader he had bought from Texaco and r=grading his mile and a half of country road, which he tried to keep in passable condition which occupied most of his free time.
Alex is survived by his Wife, Daughter - Patti Sue Cuthill, step daughter Valerie J. Creek, Brother - John Scott Cuthill and wife Marquerite and grandson Richard Cuthill.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Mother and brothers Robert G. and George California.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, Casper, Wyoming.
Funeral services will be held at Highland Park Community Church, July 31, 2013 at 10:00 am.
A reception will be held at the church after the cemetery rites. The family requests that you bring a favorite memory picture to share with everyone. They will be displayed at the reception.
Interment will be at Wyoming Memorial Gardens.
