With profound sadness we announce the passing of Alberta Delores "Dee" Mangler, our loving mother and friend to all whose lives she touched, on February 17, 2022.
She left us peacefully, surrounded by her daughters, while being cared for at Central Wyoming Hospice. At the age of 88 years old, her work here was done and she was welcomed with open arms in heaven and reunited with her loving family who went before her.
Alberta was born to the late Albert Washington Stewartt Osborn and Mollie Minch Osborn, September 27, 1933, in Worland, WY. Alberta graduated from the 8th grade and soon thereafter met her soul mate, Donald Allen Mangler. Shortly after, they were married on September 27, 1949, in Red Lodge, MT, and they lived in Worland, WY, until relocating to Casper, WY, where they made their permanent home. To this marriage three children were born, Gloria Jean, Steven Allen, and Carol Lynn.
Alberta was a hard worker her entire life. She began at an early age by selling vegetables from the family garden to the neighbors from her wagon. During her school years she began working in the beet fields and delivered newspapers to help her family. Even though Alberta only had an 8th grade education, she never let that hinder her. After she married, she was a bookkeeper for her husband's trucking company for 20 years. During this time, while raising a family and keeping an immaculate home, she also cleaned other's homes and cared for an elderly woman who she grew to be very fond of. Later in life she worked at Millview Cleaners for 12 years. Before she retired she was employed at both the Wyoming Medical Center and the Powell Hospital in the laundry department.
Alberta was a bowler on both a women's and mixed league for several years in the 1960's. She never missed a football game and her favorite team was the Denver Broncos. She loved opera music, poetry, Hershey Kisses, puffed Cheetos, and vanilla ice cream. Alberta decorated each room of her home in different themes. Her bedroom was angels and prayer hands, the living room had old people, her kitchen and entry way were clowns, and her bathroom was eloquently decorated in skunks. She also collected Smurfs.
She is survived by her daughters, Carol Mangler-Minchow (James Minchow) of Casper, WY and Gloria Bertagnole of Casper, WY; her sister Margorie Crush of Joliet, MT. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren that are soon to arrive. She is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Mollie Osborn; her husband, Donald Mangler; her son, Steven Mangler; a brother, George Osborn; sisters, Geraldine Crowson, Elenora Plough, Deanna Winterholler-Stricker; and grandson, James Alan Minchow.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in Alberta's name to Central Wyoming Hospice for the incredible loving care that she received in her final days here on earth. The family wishes to thank all those at Hospice for their compassion, dignity, and care they provided for our mother and family.
Per Alberta's request, only graveside services will be held. Service to be held at Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Monday, February 28, 2022, at 11:00 a.m.
Alberta never knew a stranger and was loved by all who knew her. Her sense of humor, and caring personality led her to many friends who will carry her in their hearts forever. She will be sadly missed by her family and all who she touched.
