Albert John Peters, Jr.
1933-2011
After a short illness, long time Casper resident Albert Peters passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 21, 2011. Albert was born in Castle Rock, CO. and was the second born of four children to Albert John Peters, Sr. and Leora Peters.
After graduating from Douglas County High School, Albert enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served his country with distinction in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. His country recognized his valor and awarded him the Distinguished Flying Cross, several air Medals, and numerous campaign ribbons from around the globe. After 23 years, Albert retired honorably from military service and spent the remainder of his working years as an airframe mechanic and heavy diesel engine mechanic.
Albert settled in Casper in 1977 and remained a viable contributor to his community. He was a dedicated member in the Knights of Columbus (achieving Grand Knight), the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion. He participated in the local softball leagues where he coached the LA Platte Sharks to a state title and also sponsored many fund-raising softball tournaments for Disabled American Veterans.
In 1957 Albert married Rosy Ann of Platteville, CO and together they had five children. He is survived by four children; Dean, DeeAnn, Jeffrey, and Rhonda. Also his sister, Alice Embry, his brother Carl Peters, his former wife, Rosy Ann, and six grand children; Joshua, Katy, Clay, Kyle, Jeremy, and Tyler.
He was preceded in death by his son Greg.
FUNERAL SERVICES: Funeral Services will full military honors and Fourth Degree Honor Guard will be held at Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. with the Fr. Kevin Koch officiating.
