Alan Bruce Lesco

November 15, 1946 — August 8, 2021

Sunday, August 8, 2021 Al Lesco went to be with the Lord. Alan Bruce Lesco was born November 15, 1946, in Cushing Oklahoma. During his childhood years he was afflicted with Polio and suffered weakness in parts of his body thereby forging his will for the years that were to come. He was the youngest of three boys and at the age of seven his parents moved to Cheyenne with him and his older brother Bill.

He graduated from East High School in 1965 and started to work for the State of Wyoming as a photographer. Upon finishing his training at the Police Academy, he started work in Douglas as a Wyoming Highway Patrolman, a position that he held for 23 years before starting work at the Port of Entry in Lusk. He retired after 35 years working for the State of Wyoming. He enjoyed working as a patrolman, an accomplishment that is even more significant considering the challenges of his childhood.

Upon retirement, Al and Darlene split their time between being with their children and grandchildren, seeing the parts of the world that had evaded them while working, and enjoying great friendships here in Douglas and down south in Arizona and Texas. His primary goal in life, however, was to make sure that his family was taken care of.

He was a husband, father, grandfather, patrolman, servant, practical joker, and friend. Words that have been used to describe him by his friends and family include honorable, special, great, wonderful, faithful, respected, one-of-the-best, and good. The distinction between good and great being that one word describing actions springing from character, and the other being the magnitude of his impact on those around him.

He is survived by his loving wife Darlene, his sons Brett with his wife Heather and Bart with his wife Suzie, and his 7 grandchildren Isaac, Ethan, Joe, Nathan, Asher, Tristan, and Naomi.

Al is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Velma (Cooper) Lesco, and his brothers Bill and Harry.

Cards can be sent to Darlene and family c/o Newcomer Funeral Home, 710 E. 2nd St., Casper, 82601 or to Unity Christian Fellowship at 1523 Irwin Street, Douglas.

Donations can be made on Al's behalf to the Wyoming Highway Patrol Association - http://www.wystatetrooper.org/
