Margarete Adelle Krans Passed away peacefully June 27, 2024 at the age of 96 at Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions in Casper, Wyoming. She had been diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas in May 2024. She had been a resident of Edgewood, Meadow Wind since March of 2022.

Born Margarete Adelle Lehman May 9, 1928 in Pueblo, Colorado to Harvey S. Lehman and Lida Melinda Haas Lehman.
She moved to Alcova, Wyo when she was 2 and lived there while her father worked as a foreman building the Alcova dam. When she was 4 they moved to Casper, Wyoming and lived the rest of her life there.

In 1946 she graduated from Natrona County High School. She went on a summer trip to visit her grandmother in Southern California and met her future husband Howard E. Krans. After a whirlwind romance, they were married September 9, 1946. In a small ceremony at her parents’ home with her cousin Doris and Paul Jacques as maid of honor and best man.
They moved to Southern California for a short while, but it was not very long before they were back in Casper Wyoming to raise their family. They owned and operated the City Furniture store on 1st & David street in downtown Casper for many years until they closed it in 1985 when my father retired. Margarete also was an electrologist for many years and sold Mary Kay Make up for a time. She played bridge, had parties, lady’s teas for Christmas with all of the trimmings.

In retirement, her and my father were able to take several trips to Hawaii, Alaska, back east to her family’s Pennsylvania roots, New York, Washington, and of course the bi-annual trek to Northern Michigan to visit my father’s family in Calumet Michigan.

Margarete was a music enthusiast and played the saxophone and clarinet in her high school bands and played for a swing band in high school. She played the saxophone for the Casper City marching band as well for many years. The piano and organ were other musical instruments she mastered in her lifetime.

She was an active member and deacon for many years at the First Presbyterian Church, taught Sunday school, and sang in the choir. Margarete had many talents. One was her love of art and hand painting China which she shared with her mother. Her family will now treasure these lovely works of art.

Margarete is survived by her 5 children Richard, (Jenny) Krans of Green River, Wyoming, Gary, (Lonnalee) Krans of Templeton, California, Howard Steven (Isabell) Krans of Gallup, New Mexico, Lida Volin of Casper, Wyoming and, Louise Zawacki of Loveland, Colorado.
