Allen Ray Coleman

November 4, 1946 — June 19, 2024

Allen “Ray” Coleman passed from this life on June 19, 2024.

Ray was born in Pickens, Mississippi on November 4, 1946, to Slim and Evelyn Coleman, the
4th of 5 children. The family followed the oil field to Wyoming in 1950.

Ray graduated from Natrona County High School in 1965. Even then he was a skilled mechanic, working for his dad at Coleman & Son, Inc. He then worked for Loffland Brothers/ Nabors Drilling for the rest of his working life. He was a regional maintenance supervisor for the drilling equipment. He could fix anything related to a rig. He spent countless hours traveling the highways of the Western United States, all times of the day and night, in all weather conditions to visit the rigs and put them to working order. Even taking a helicopter to some locations.

He married Carolyn Anderson in 1988. Carolyn’s family embraced Ray. Together Ray and Carolyn found happiness. They traveled, golfed, camped, fished, laughed, and relished life. After retirement they were snowbirds for a few years, spending time in Arizona. They settled back in Wyoming in a home in Buffalo, that let them focus on their favorites things in life, plus enjoy small town life and family.

After Carolyn’s death, Ray’s health declined. He spent the last years of his life in Casper. His greatest joy in those years was Sully, the Golden Retriever.

Preceded in death by his parents, P. A. “Slim” Coleman and Evelyn Coleman, sister in-law, Karen Coleman, his wife, Carolyn, and his daughter Kristi Marie.

Survived by siblings Sara Kennedy of Anchorage, AK, William “Bill” Coleman of Casper, Charles “Charlie” Coleman (Peggy) of Fort Collins, CO, and Susan Moens of Casper; many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Family is planning a celebration of life later in the summer.

Memorials in Ray’s memory may be made to Wyoming Dementia Care, Platte River Trails, or charity of donor’s choice.
