Peggy Busby was born February 6, 1930, in Armel Colorado to Blanche and Zell Shaver. Growing up during the Dustbowl and the Depression in the windy plains of eastern Colorado, she learned life lessons of hard work, making do and valuing family. As a young girl she dreamed of one day having her own library and garden.
On April 29, 1951, Peggy married her life partner of 64 years Charles Richard (Dick) Busby. They raised a family of 8 children, teaching them through scouting, 4-H, skiing, camping, Winnie the Pooh stories and church. Peg was a 4-H leader, Den Mother, Sunday school teacher, dune buggy navigator/pusher and most of all a fine mother.
In 1979, Peggy started her real estate career with Equity Brokers. She worked as an associate broker in the Lander, Wyoming, office and in the Casper, Wyoming, office until her retirement in 2009. During those 30 years, she was well known for her straightforward, trustworthy advice and she developed a large network of loyal clients.
Retirement for Peg meant she finally realized her dream and had time to read books, do puzzles and work in her beautiful gardens. She developed the largest lot in Rustic Pines into a stunning garden where she happily spent her days. Although hampered by stroke, she continued to live independently in her home until March, 2024.
Peggy is survived by a large devoted family of 8 children: Ronna (Dean) Boril of Casper, Wy; Mike (Sharon) Busby of Oro Valley, AZ; Richard Kurt (Moira) Busby of Charleston, SC; Kerry (Brent) Shaeffer of Casper; Joe (Nicole) Busby of Brighton, UT; Bob Busby (Maureen Conte) of Falmouth MA, Becky Schlenker of Custer, SD; Andy Busby of Ogden, UT; 15 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren, her sister Jane Soehner of Winslow, AZ, and her sister-in-law Carol Shaver of Brighton, Colorado.
Sadly, she was preceded in death by her husband Dick, son-in-law Rollie Schlenker, grandson Kyle Richard Busby, brothers Rex Shaver and Dick Shaver.
An interment service is planned for 11:00am, June 17, 2024 at Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery, Casper.
