Ruth Hunter Garrett, age 87, died peacefully of natural causes on November 29, 2023 at home.
Ruth is survived by a brother, Richard Hunter of Dubois, ID, her Children, Pam Jerke of Casper, Teresa Weeks of Shelley, ID, Wes Williams (Lona) of Casper, Mark Williams (Lynda) of Casper, Jim Thompson of Albany, OR, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a husband, Ralph Garrett, a daughter Julie Galloway, a son, Charles Williams, a grandson, Timothy Williams, and 8 siblings.
Ruth was born in Heman, Idaho to Murray and Birdie Hunter on January 11, 1936. Ruth grew up on the family ranch in Kilgore, Idaho. She attended the local elementary school and went to high school in St. Anthony Idaho. In 1956 she married Vinal Williams, they later divorced, and began a family. In 1978 she married Ralph Garrett in Colfax, Washington and he passed away in 1984 and she never remarried. Though her main job was a homemaker and taking care of her family, she had many jobs through the years to make ends meet including in agriculture, food processing, food service, real estate, and the hospitality industry. Through her life, she traveled extensively and actually made a home in several places in Idaho, Oregon, Alaska, Washington, South Dakota, and finally Wyoming.
Ruth truly loved her family and her goal was making sure they knew they were loved and cared for. With seven children, she had a knack for prioritizing and spreading the love where it was needed most at the time whether that be her children or grandchildren.
Ruth loved the outdoors and there were lots of camping trips, but they always involved fishing. She was passionate about fishing and was always trying to improve her success. Whether trying to pry information from a fellow fisherman along the bank or reading about new techniques or equipment she was always excited about the prospect of trying something new to improve her success.
Ruth had a big heart and always gave everything she had to her children.
Cremation will take place and a celebration of life service will be held on what would have been her 88th birthday, January 11, 2024 at 10:00 am at the LDS Church located at 1075 Morado Drive, Casper, WY, 82609.
