Alvin Leroy Parmely

May 2, 1933 — October 2, 2023

Alvin (Al) Parmely passed away peacefully on October 2, 2023.

Al was born May 2, 1933 to Everett and Margaret Parmely in Lusk, Wyoming. He graduated high school in Douglas Wyoming. He married the love of his life Arlene Parmely on March 1st 1954.

Al worked very hard his whole life. Coming from a ranching family he delivered propane; worked for Rongstad Construction in the 60's where he worked on many projects in the Casper Community and also built many of the bridges around the state. He then worked for Little America Refinery trading his day shifts for the night shifts. He did this so he could start his own company, along with Arlene, Al's Window and Home Repair in 1968. Later he added to this Overhead Door Company of Casper and Overhead Door Company of Riverton Lander.

Al retired from the window and glass business by selling his company to his three sons in 1988. At this time he went back to his roots and had a farm/ranch behind Poison Spider School where he grew alfalfa. In 2015 he had to hang up his farming and they moved back into town.

Al was generous with his time and talents. He served on the Natrona County Weed and Pest Board, Natrona County Conservation Boards and the City of Casper Water Board. But his true love was the Lions Club.

He joined the Casper Mountain Lions Club in 1984 and became a life member in 2001. He served his club as president and secretary. He was the District 15 Governor in 2009 and also served Wyoming Lions as cabinet secretary, zone chair, and regional chair. He was a valued member of the Sunrise Cheyenne Club where he attended meetings via zoom up to the time of his death.

His love was the Allen H Stewart Lions Camp on Casper Mountain. He served as camp board chair for 9 years and also was camp director. During his years of service he and Arlene were responsible for the addition to Shumway Hall, improvements to the McCarrol Center, built the electrical shed, spearheaded the building of the couples' quarters which is named after him and his wife Arlene, and worked on the Braille Trail.

Al was inducted into the very 1st class of the Lions Wyoming Hall of Fame in 2017. He has received four International President Awards and is a 10 time Progressive Melvin Jones He Fellow.

Al is survived by daughter Ann (Wayne Hanson) of Fort Lupton, Colorado; son Roy (JoAnn) of Casper, son Chuck (Cynthia) of Riverton, and son Ron (Katherine) of Casper; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife Arlene, his parents and both of his brothers Robert and Frank.

The funeral mass will be held at 9:00 AM on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with a reception following in the church gym. A graveside service will take place at 11:30 at Highland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Cheyenne Sunrise Lions Club Ride for Sight or Central Wyoming Hospice.
