Deena Kay Russell passed away unexpectedly on September 10th, 2023 at her home. She was 62 years old.
Deena was born on November 15th, 1960 to Carol Marie Russell (Eddy) and James Floyd Russell in Douglas Wyoming. Deena attended school in Douglas Wyoming and graduated from DHS in the class of 1979, where she participated in FBLA and was on the swim and diving team. After graduation, Deena moved to Laramie and attended school at the University of Wyoming, seeking a degree in Business Administration and Accounting. She spent the majority of the rest of her life between Douglas and Casper Wyoming.
The majority of Deena's career, she worked for the railroad, both Chicago & Northwestern Transportation and Union Pacific. She took pride in this job and enjoyed working her way from rail crew all the way up to being an engineer for several years. Aside from this she also worked as a lifeguard, in different accounting jobs and most recently, prior to retirement enjoyed working for IReach as a Direct Support Specialist.
Deena had 5 children; Jon, Morgan, Kyle, Kelsey and Lucas. She always encouraged her children to compete in sports and enjoyed cheering them on.
Deena enjoyed watching sports, sewing, and skiing in her younger years. She didn't cook a lot, however when she did she enjoyed it and made a great meatloaf, the best Thanksgiving stuffing, and a mean potato salad, these will never be able to be recreated.
Deena was preceded in death by her father James Floyd Russell in 1967, and her mother Carol Marie Russell earlier this year in April of 2023. She is survived by her two brothers; Bob (Rhonda) Russell of Shawnee, and David (Stephanie) Russell of Pueblo Colorado, and her 5 children; Jon Rusell of Douglas Wyoming, Morgan (Matthew 'Cody') McCullough of Casper Wyoming, Kyle McClary of Casper Wyoming, Kelsey (Sean) Keegan of Casper Wyoming and Lucas (Adalee) Russell of Glenrock Wyoming, and her 4 grandchildren; Maxton and Madalynn McCullough and Landynn and Logan Keegan, all of Casper Wyoming.
A celebration of life will be held for Deena at the Moose Lodge in Douglas Wyoming on Saturday, September 30th from 1pm-3pm.
