Charles Anthony Ripperger, Sr., 90, of Casper, Wyoming died Monday, July 17, 2023 at his home in Casper. He was born on February 2, 1933 to Lloyd and Mildred (Seuferer) Ripperger in Melcher, Iowa. In 1951 he graduated from Corwith High School in Corwith, Iowa. From 1951 until 1953 he played major league baseball for the Boston Red Sox as a pitcher. From 1953 until 1955 he served in the U.S. Army in transportation.
On April 17, 1956 he married Joyce Hammer at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in St. Joe, Iowa and together they had six children.
After living in Ft. Dodge, Iowa for two and a half years, they moved to Casper, Wyoming.
In 1960 his father purchased Wyoming Diesel Service which he later owned and operated until 2004. He then went to work for Nelico Equipment and Supply until 2008. Charles worked the spring and summer of 2009 and 2010 for Hood's Equipment and Sprinkler.
Charles has also been a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Parish in Casper since 1958.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sons, Craig Ripperger and Charles Ripperger, Jr. and sister, Madonna Hillis.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joyce Ripperger; children, Cathryn (Neal) Kebert, Cynthia (Dave) Evans, Constance (Larry) Traywick, and Rev. Chad Ripperger; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchild; siblings, Joan Dolence and Loretta Bender; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until a Vigil Service at 7:00 PM, Friday, July 21, 2023 at Newcomer Casper Chapel. A Private Funeral Service will be held at a later date with interment at Wyoming Memorial Gardens.
